Ajanta and Ellora caves are heritage sites which date back to the 2nd century BC. Ajanta caves are thirty in number and have Buddhist sculptures and frescoes depicting ancient art and way of life. Ellora Caves include 34 rock-cut shrines belonging to the 4th to 9th century A.D time period, portraying arts of representing Buddhist, Hindu and Jain.
