Day 1 – Delhi to Leh by air (1 hr) On reaching Leh, you will be assisted by our agent and transferred to Leh hotel. It is indispensable to acclimatize for whole day at high altitude of 3,500 mtrs above sea level. Evening can be spent in the Leh Markets. Followed by an overnight stay in the hotel at Leh.
Day 2 – Leh to Alchi to Lamayuru (128kms/ drive for 4 to 5 hrs) After breakfast, we will leave for Lamayuru visiting en route to Alchi Monastery. Touring monasteries of Lumayuru in the afternoon. Followed by dinner and an overnight stay in the pitched camps.
Day 3 – Lamayuru to Prinkitila to Wanla After having breakfast, commence trek that descends towards the village. On crossing a rivulet and taking a gradual ascend athwart the hillside will bring you to a small valley in the direction of Prinkitila at 3,750 mtrs. Shilla village lies down the slender gay from the valley. Traverse through river via bridge reaching on it’s right bank to Wanla. Today’s trek summarizes in about 3 to 4 hrs, you can visit monastery, followed by an overnight stay in the camps.
Day 4 – Wanla to Hinju After having breakfast, commence trek (3/4hr) by walking along the left embankment of Yapola River, for 2 to 3 hrs. On reaching Phenjila village, dinner and an overnight stay in the camps.
Day 5 - Hinju to Konzkela to Sumda After having breakfast, commence trek (5/6 hr) from Hinju and climb up to the main valley. On coming across last house on the meadow, escape one or two valley towards left and ascend on the pass, that has it’s last part steep. Apex point of Konzkela at the height of 4,950 mtrs declines to grazing lands, you can walk down from there by keeping a left. Dinner served at camps present on the river’s edge followed by an overnight stay at the same.
Day 6 - Sumda to Dundunchenla to Chilling After having breakfast, commence trek (7/8 hrs), which is hard till the rock shelter.
On crossing this shelter, you can see bridge to its opposite side, on crossing the bridge begin with a abrupt climb towards Dundunchenla (4800 mtrs), you can sight sumptuous pass from here. On an immediate decline, you reach to home situated at the top of a gorge. From here, it starts narrowing till you reach Chilling followed by dinner and an overnight stay in the camp.
Day 7 - Chilling to Skiu After having breakfast, commence trek (8/9 hrs) that comprises of gradual walks enlisting highs and lows of Markha Valley and then to Skiu, present hundreds of meters further. Followed by dinner and an overnight stay in the camp.
Day 8 - Skiu to Markha 7 km trek from Skiu to the right bank of Markha Valley. On traversig right bank of the river followed by crossing barren plain, you can reach to Chaluk. Henceforth, walk towards left bank of river and after an additional crossing ascend towards Markha village. Followed by dinner and overnight stay in the camp on river embankment.
Day 9 - Markha to Tchatchutse 6/7 hr trek towards the main valley right bank onwards. Trail can be hard in the riverbed, passing from Humlung Monastery. You have to cross bridge on the left bank to reach Tchatchuste. Followed by dinner and an overnight stay in the camp.
Day 10 - Tchatchutse to Nimaling (4700 mtrs) 3 hr trek with several small acclivities. Walk towards a small lke and then cross meadow towards Nimaling, most sumptuous valley in Ladakh that is subjugated by Kang Yaze. Followed by dinner and an overnight stay in the camp.
Day 11 - Nimaling to Knogmarula (5150 mtrs) –to Shang (8 hrs) Trek traversing Markha valley, a climb athwart hillside, further awry way to ongmarula. On following abrupt decline into the valley and keeping left of the banks, you will reach Chukirmo. You will reach camp of Shang on traversing right and the left bank. Visit to monastery that is an hour away from the camp. Followed by dinner and an overnight stay in the camp.
Day 12 - Shang to Hemis 4 hrs trek commencing from the riverbed via well-made path through giant blocks and then proceed towards left bank. You will reach a dusty trail apt for motor vehicles, further bypassing a small house and sequence of Chortens. Bypass way for Martsellang on the right and move along a slow ascending track to Hemis. Visit Hemis monastery. Taking 1 and ½ hr drive from Hemis to Leh, en route visiting Shey and Thiksey monasteries. Trek terminates here.
Day 13 - Leh Full day for Leh sight seeing. Followed by dinner and an overnight stay in the hotel.
Day 14 – Leh to Delhi Transfer to airport after the breakfast. Further connecting flight from Delhi airport. |
Leh is located to the north of the Indus Valley. It is the capital city of Ladakh. It is dominated by decaying nine-storey Leh Palace, home of Ladakhi Royal family. In the night, lit up ‘stupa’ (Buddhist religious monument) is immensely impressive. It was built by assistance of Japanese government in order to extend its support in spreading Buddhism. Other places to visit are Sankar Gompa, Namgyal Tsemo Gompa and The Ecology Center. It has number of monasteries such Spituk Monastery; Hemis monastery is the largest one in Ladakh, Thiksey Monastery and many more.
Most trekkers visit Markha Valley. It is situated in the Ladakh region and encapsulates some of the amazing scenes of High Himalayan and Karakoram Ranges. It also gives a sneak peek in the nomadic lives of people thriving in the Markha Valley area. The average altitude is above 3500 mts through the trek. Wanla, Konzekla give an impressive panoramic sight and makes this trek an ecstasy for nature lovers. You will proceed from right bank onwards until you reach Hankar that is inhabited by several houses. Path improvises, whereas after crossing a wide valley on the right side, valley further becomes slender and raises high.
Alchi, Lamayuru and Hemis monasteries are among the most archaic and the most magnificent monasteries in Ladakh. They are enriched with cultural heritage. The scenery around Lamayuru monastery is one of most magnificent surroundings one could imagine.
Kangyaze is an impressive peak of about 6400 mtrs height. The Kongmarula pass is the highest on this trek, with the height of 5030 mtrs. It provides a sumptuous view towards the south of Zanskar range and towards north of the Ladakh range.
